The UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center is one of only 47 cancer centers in the nation to be designated by the National Cancer Institute as a comprehensive cancer center, the highest federal designation and rating for cancer centers. We have the talent, resources and technical expertise to give New Mexicans the world-class cancer care they deserve. Our team of doctors and cancer specialists work side-by-side to design individualized treatment plans and deliver them to our patients in a compassionate, culturally sensitive way. As the state's only NCI-designated cancer center, we annually manage more than:
- 10,000 patient visits
- 13,900 prescriptions filled at our pharmacy
- 15,800 radiation treatments
- 38,900 infusions
All of our services are under one roof for your convenience – diagnosis, treatment, research, support and laboratory and pharmacy services. While you receive treatment at the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center, we want you to be as comfortable as possible, and we encourage you to bring family members to your appointments as support. Children are not allowed in the infusion bays and rooms, but they can wait comfortably with an adult in our large family waiting room.
To ensure that all New Mexicans have access to world-class cancer care and benefit from advances in cancer research, the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center will provide outstanding cancer diagnosis and treatment, conduct world-class research to discover the causes and the cures for cancer, educate the next generation of cancer healthcare professionals, and overcome the significant cancer health disparities in the Southwest through community-based outreach programs.
