The primary mission of UNM Health System's Center for Digestive Diseases (UNMH-CDD) is to provide New Mexicans with the highest quality patient care in complex gastrointestinal and liver diseases. The physicians at the UNMH-CDD are talented academics and have wide-ranging clinical expertise.

Gastroenterology at UNM Health System

Our dedicated team of physicians, nurses and support staff are committed to providing expert care and treatment options to fit each patient’s needs with the goal of improving their health and quality of life. We also serve as a referral center to provide support for other gastroenterologists in the Albuquerque community and to provide second opinions for patients with complex gastrointestinal and liver problems.

UNMH-CDD maintains a leading-edge endoscopic facility recognized by the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy for high quality. We have expertise in all diagnostic and therapeutic G.I. procedures including:

  • Colonoscopy
  • Upper endoscopy
  • Capsule (pill-camera) endoscopy
  • Pancreas and biliary endoscopy including endoscopic ultrasound and ERCP
  • Liver biopsy
  • Esophageal and anorectal manometry
