Comprehensive Testing

When you make an appointment, your doctor may use one of the following tests:

Using an ambulatory blood pressure monitor to track your blood pressure every 15-30 minutes during a normal day and night helps you and your doctor know whether your blood pressure treatment is working.

This test helps your doctor see how well your heart works under stress. You are given a medicine called dobutamine, which will make your heart beat stronger and faster as you lie on an exam bed for the test.

Also known as an ECG or EKG, this test records electrical signals from your heart. The pattern of signals helps your doctor know whether your heart is functioning normally.

Worn at home for up to a month, this device monitors your heart to help your doctor know if your heart is functioning as it should.

A stress echo test, in which you pedal on a stationary bike with increased resistance, helps your doctor see how well your heart works under stress.

In this test you walk on a treadmill while your doctor monitors your blood pressure and heart rate.

This acts as a sort of take-home EKG test. It monitors your heart as you do your normal, everyday routine. Your doctor will look at the results to see if your heart is beating as it should.

Known as a TEE test, this helps your doctor see how well your heart is working. The doctor will numb your throat and give you medication to relax. Then the doctor places a special camera down your throat to get pictures of your heart.

Known as a TTE test, this helps your doctor know how well your heart is working. TTE shows the size and thickness of your heart, as well as how well it is pumping, while checking for blood clots, masses, holes and fluid around the heart.

Ultrasounds make pictures inside the body and are completely safe. In this test we will move a probe across your stomach. The probe sends out waves, which are then sent to a computer. It provides your physician with a picture of the inside of your abdomen.

This is a quick test to check the flow of blood to your legs to determine if the arteries in your arms or legs are narrowed or blocked. People with reduced blood flow have a high risk of heart attack, stroke, blood flow and leg pain.

In this procedure we will move a probe across your skin. The resulting images from the ultrasound will show your doctor whether your veins and arteries are functioning properly.
