Healing Lifestyle

Heal Your Gut, Heal Your Hormones

Learn the link between your gut and your hormones in this 6-week live and online course. Find out how to naturally balance your hormones to increase energy, stabilize your moods, improve the quality of your sleep and release stress and anxiety. You will learn what foods optimize your energy and mood and how to be calm, cool and collected no matter what you are facing. Course includes course book and on-site grocery tours.

Registration for full course is $299 and UNM employees are eligible for UNM tuition remission under Personal Enrichment. A $30 fee for course book, food/mood journal and handouts is due to the instructor on the first day of class. Online sessions will be recorded and available for play-back via email.

Healing Lifestyles for Pre-Diabetes and Diabetes

This course will teach you how to naturally control your blood sugar, increase energy and reduce cravings with guidance and support. Led by a certified holistic health practitioner, you will receive healthful and healing options to relieve Type II diabetes symptoms and other sugar-related issues. You will create a bio-individual plan for cooking, eating out, work, social situations and cravings. This is not a diet – this is an action plan for healthy living and thriving for the rest of your life. Course includes course book and on-site grocery tours.

Heal Your Sugar & Gluten Blues

Learn about natural sweeteners that will satisfy your sweet tooth and help you heal from your sugar and/or gluten related ailments. Learn to curb sugar and gluten addiction for good and regain health and well-being in this 6-week course. Feel more energized, think more clearly, release allergies, reduce pain medication, and decrease weight and bloating in six weeks.

This class will help you create a bio-individual plan for cooking, eating out, on the go, work, social situations and cravings. 

Registration for the six-week course is $299, and is eligible for UNM employee tuition remission under Personal Enrichment. A $30 fee for course materials, including course book and handouts, is due to instructor on the first day of class.

Online sessions will be recorded and available for play-back via email. 

Movement, Meditation & Expressive Arts for Women 18+

This workshop will include gentle yoga, Qi gong, dance/movement and expressive art. No previous art or dance experience necessary. Using gentle movement, music, meditation and art, you will be able to access core thoughts, emotions and insights in a safe, supportive environment.  

Yoga and Qi gong increase flexibility, strength, balance and concentration. Meditation induces relaxation and has been proven to lower blood pressure for some individuals. 

Cost is $39 per class, per person, all supplies included. Please arrive scent-free and in clothes that allow you to freely move.
Sometimes art or dream interpretation classes will go longer than 2.5 hours.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

Mindfulness can help in:

  • Reducing stress, anxiety and depression
  • Managing pain, addictions, high blood pressure
  • Easing sleep issues and more

 Four distinct mindfulness classes are offered and can be taken separately.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) - 8 week program

  • Description: “Join us for our world renowned Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program, the 8 week course in mindfulness meditation with leading expert Michelle DuVal, MA.  Learn the fundamentals of mindfulness and meditation, and then learn to put the practices into your daily life for real stress reduction.  Course includes weekly sessions, day retreat, e-coursebook, and a wonderful series of downloadable guided meditations.”

Mindful Approach to Sleep – 4 week program

  • Description:  Are you having trouble sleeping or sleeping well?  Do you wake up groggy and unrefreshed?  Does your mind tend to race in the middle of the night?  Then join us for this incredible program that teaches participants to use mindfulness meditation to help rest, relax, and move your brain into patterns that help with sleep.  Upwards of 83% of people report falling asleep easier, sleeping deeper, and waking up more refreshed after integrating consistent meditation practice into their lives. Participants receive a comprehensive e-coursebook, a Science Based Sleep Ritual, and a series of downloadable guided meditations to help leverage the neuroscience of greater rest, relaxation, and better sleep through mindfulness meditation.

Mindful Eating and Living – 4 week session

  • Description:  : Do you sometimes feel out of control with eating?  Are you experiencing and uncomfortable or unhealthy body weight?  Do you use food to deal with stress?  This Mindful Eating program has been taught by Michelle DuVal, MA, at the University of New Mexico for the past 13 years with terrific results. Learn the clinically proven techniques of Mindful Eating for weight loss, creating healthier eating habits and choices, and to help reduce stress eating and overeating.  Mindful Eating is the program that can change your relationship to food....forever.  Also included is lifetime access to the online version of the program, as well as a series of downloadable guided meditations that we use as part of the program and that are yours to keep.

Mindfulness for Anxiety, Worry, Depression, and Pain (AWDP) – 4 week session

  • Description:  Everybody has those moments when their minds get out of control and worry gets the best of us.  But when it becomes a daily habit, the resulting anxiety and depression it causes can erode the quality of our lives.  And believe it or not, how we deal with anxiety, worry and depression is incredibly similar to how we can more skillfully deal with chronic pain.  If you're plagued by any of the above and want things to change, join us for this life changing program and practice in mindfulness geared specifically toward some of our biggest life challenges.  Included with this program is a comprehensive e-coursebook full of helpful readings and practices, as well as an incredible series of downloadable guided meditations to help you get a hold of your life once and for all.
