Bryan Gutman, MD

 I grew up in Florida and spent much of my adult life in Asheville, North Carolina, where I developed a strong appreciation for community, service, and the outdoors.

I chose Family Medicine to care for people in the full context of their lives - building relationships, showing up consistently, and being present through both big and quiet moments. I attended the University of Colorado Rural Program for medical school and spent my clinical year in Southwest Colorado and Shiprock, New Mexico. That experience reinforced why I love Family Medicine and solidified the physician I hope to become - someone who builds trust over time and delivers care that is both thoughtful and deeply human. My clinical interests also include palliative care and addiction medicine, which I hope to weave into my primary care work.

I chose UNM because of the people and the purpose. My time in Shiprock felt grounding and meaningful, and it’s a privilege to return. I’m excited to learn from faculty in Albuquerque and build lasting relationships as I grow.

Outside of medicine, I’m happiest skiing, fly fishing, hiking, and exploring the mountains and high desert.
