Andrew Honken, MD

 I grew up in Frenchtown, Montana, and completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Montana. After serving for two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Uganda, I attended medical school at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where I was enrolled in the Primary Care–Population Medicine dual-degree program.

I am excited to train as a family medicine physician because I strongly believe in the vital role of robust primary care in our healthcare system. Growing up in a small town shaped my commitment to eventually practice in a rural community, where full-spectrum family medicine training will equip me to care for patients across a wide range of settings and needs.

Above all, I look forward to building longitudinal relationships with my patients and supporting them through all stages of life. I am thrilled to have matched into the Shiprock 1+2 program and am eager to learn in such a unique setting. I welcome the opportunities, challenges, and lessons that come with working within the Indian Health Service to provide high-quality, compassionate care.
