I chose Family Medicine because it allows me to build meaningful, long-term relationships with my patients. I value continuity of care and the opportunity to be a consistent presence in my patients’ lives, not just during illness, but throughout their health journey. I am drawn to the full spectrum of care that Family Medicine offers, including pediatrics and acute care, especially in rural settings where physicians often serve in multiple roles. I enjoy the versatility of caring for patients across all stages of life while adapting to the needs of the community.
I chose UNM because of its commitment to underserved populations across both urban and rural settings. Coming from a rural community with a large Spanish-speaking population, I have seen firsthand the barriers many patients face in accessing care. These experiences have shaped my passion for providing comprehensive, culturally competent care and advocating for my patients.
