Emily Mitchell, MD

 Hello, everyone! I grew up in Houston, TX and studied Human Biology at the University of Texas at Austin,where working in a nonprofit primary care clinic solidified my passion for family medicine and care for the underserved. I then got my medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, where I did my clerkships at the Amarillo branch.

I knew family medicine was the specialty for me due to the strong connections you can build with patients at all stages of life while managing a broad array of health conditions. Some of my favorite areas of interest are women’s health, LGBTQIA+ care, and preventative medicine.

Despite never living in New Mexico, I knew I wanted to be a part of the UNM Family Residency Program due to their commitment to providing care to the underserved, accessible reproductive health and gender-affirming care. I am so excited to start on this journey at UNM!
