Sarah Putnam, MD, MPH |
(She/Her/Hers) |
| Medical School: University of New Mexico School of Medicine |
Hello! My name is Sarah Putnam, and I am ecstatic to be joining UNM’s Family Medicine Residency program. I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico on green chili and hot air balloons. With my mother being from France, I grew up in a bilingual household speaking both French and English. I am continually working to strengthen my Spanish to better connect with the diverse communities I serve.
Before medical school, I completed a Master’s in Public Health in Maternal & Child Health, which shaped my commitment to addressing health disparities and advocating for patients at both the individual and community levels. I chose Family Medicine because it embodies the kind of physician I aspire to be: one who builds lasting relationships with patients while caring for the whole person across all stages of life. My specific interests include women’s health, addiction medicine, reproductive justice and street medicine.
Outside of medicine I enjoy cooking, snowboarding and spending time with my hyper rescue dog, Cannelle (“cinnamon” in French). I feel honored to continue serving the people of New Mexico.
