Nicole Urrutia, MD

 I am a daughter, a sister, a wife, a proud mother of two daughters, ages four and nine months, and native of Las Vegas, NM. Growing up in a rural community shaped my passion for full-spectrum family medicine and my goal of returning home to serve the families who raised me.

My commitment to family medicine began before medical school, when I shadowed a rural physician who integrated clinical care, community engagement, and mentorship into her daily work. She showed me that medicine extends beyond the clinic. During my training in Shiprock, I saw how trust forms the foundation of meaningful care, as patients shared vulnerable moments shaped by complex social realities.

I am drawn to family medicine for its breadth and its focus on caring for families across generations. Whether working with a street medicine team to reach patients facing barriers to care, or supporting a grandmother managing chronic disease while caring for her family, I have learned that good care means meeting people where they are, listening, building relationships, and connecting them with the resources they need.
