UNM Hospital and the VA Medical Center are the largest teaching hospitals in the state. And as the only Level I Trauma Center in New Mexico, we care for many of New Mexico’s aging residents.

We are home to the UNM Senior Health Centera dedicated center for patients 70 years and older. Our UNM Health System staff takes special care of patients who are frail, elderly and/or living with dementia.

In addition to high-quality care, our team educates the next generation of geriatric providers. Learn how to serve seniors with compassion, respect and professionalism through a clerkship, fellowship or mentor program.

We also run the UNM Center on Aging, where we educate physicians and practices statewide. Our goal is to strengthen geriatrics and gerontology care throughout New Mexico.
