Hobbies: Hiking with my dog (Moose), Tropical Plants, Skiing, Fly Fishing, Fantasy Sports
During my rotation at UNM, I realized just how special this residency program truly is. I could not be more excited to spend my residency training with a group of residents and faculty who are genuinely invested in each other's success. I was also fortunate to couples match with my fiancée, Chloe, who is a Family Medicine resident at UNM.
I am still exploring the area, but it is hard to beat the view of the Sandia Mountains from my house. Albuquerque also offers easy access to hiking, skiing, and outdoor activities, making it a great place to live and train.
New Mexico reminds me a lot of my hometown of Reno. Being surrounded by mountains and having easy access to hiking, skiing, and other outdoor activities has made Albuquerque feel familiar from the start. It has been an easy place to feel at home while beginning residency.
My first two overnight shifts on my Sub-I perfectly captured what makes UNM Orthopaedics special. The first night, we never left the EDRU and it was by far the busiest call shift of any of my Sub-I rotations. The next night, we watched Quarterback on Netflix between consults and shared our favorite football memories. Those two nights showed me that you can get outstanding training while having a great time with the people around you.
I look forward to seeing where my interests take me during residency. At this point, I am particularly interested in Sports Medicine and Shoulder & Elbow surgery, but I am excited to learn from every subspecialty and continue developing as an orthopaedic surgeon.
