Why UNM is My Choice for Residency: UNM has a fellowship association with child abuse pediatrics. The population has a high number of underserved communities, something I'm very passionate about providing care to. Education is key to helping improve the environments and quality of life for these families. |

Favorite Things About UNM: I feel the residency does a great job at recognizing the challenge of starting residency and helps interns with the transition reasonably. All senior residents and attendings understand the novelty of residency and create achievable expectations. |

Favorite Things About NM: I just got here, but I've really enjoyed the hiking experiences and the overall geographic landscape. I come from an area of flatland so the mountains are a great change. There's a lot of opportunity to engage in new activities. I want to try mountain biking at some point. |

Additional Comments: I am very new to the area and to residency, and I feel the transition from medical school to residency has been very welcoming. New Mexico has a lot of opportunity to provide real help to families and communities as a whole. Advocacy is highly recognized here and there's so many opportunities to improve the lives of children and their families. |
