Southwest Node of the National Institute on Drug Abuse Clinical Trials Network

We are proud to announce our partnership with Arizona State University!

The Southwest Node of the NIDA Clinical Trials Network is led by Dr. Kim Page at the University of New Mexico and Dr. Adela Grando at Arizona State University.

Dr. Page is an expert in infectious disease epidemiology with significant experience conducting prospective cohort studies, clinical trials, and implementation science research.

Dr. Grando brings to the Southwest Node expertise in Biomedical Informatics, Behavioral Health, Consumer Information Systems, and Health Information Technology.

This new partnership will allow the node to expand further to communities throughout the southwest region and combines unique, specialized expertise from UNM and ASU.

What is the Southwest CTN (SW CTN)?

The SW CTN is a collaboration of clinics and researchers to address the opioid epidemic in the Southwest region.

With support from the NIDA CTN, the SW CTN supports innovative clinical research to access communities. The SW CTN’s community-based research allows for evidence-based practices to be developed FOR and WITH the communities which need them. This ultimately leads to best practices that work for communities.

Digital Storytelling

The Southwest Node recently held the world premiere of five powerful digital stories—short videos which share raw and heartfelt journeys of recovery and resilience, by volunteers in the Southwest CTN community.

Produced in collaboration with the Story Center, each story is a short video capturing the honest, emotional, and deeply personal journeys of recovery and resilience. These short videos were created by brave volunteers from our community—including people with lived experience of substance use, recovery, and healing.

Whether you are living in recovery, currently navigating it, or supporting others through it, this event offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect, connect, and be inspired by real voices and real experiences.
