NOT-TR-22-014 is a Notice of Intent to Publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement for a Limited Competition: Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Program: Collaborative and Innovative Acceleration Award (UG3/UH3 Clinical Trial Optional). Estimated publication date for the full funding announcement is March 31, 2022, with an estimated due date of July 29, 2022. This award replaces the previous CTSC supplement (CCIA) awards.

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) released this new Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) announcement to strengthen the nation’s capacity to produce a diverse, culturally competent health care workforce. The Centers of Excellence (COE) Programwill provide funding for innovative resources and education centers to recruit, train, and retain under-represented minority students and faculty at health professions schools.
A webinar about the NOFO application and requirements will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 3:00-4:30PM ET. In the past nine years, CTR-IN has funded several community-engaged projects. The purpose of this funding opportunity is to increase the number of community-engaged pilot projects across the CTR-IN network. This funding opportunity is particularly directed towards faculty who have already established relationships with community partners to engage in research with those communities. The goal of this community-engaged project is to generate key preliminary data and evidence of robust community-engaged research to support and inform a competitive “R-level” grant application to NIH or other extramural funding sources. The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) is seeking a 3-page narrative describing the evidence-based steps that Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) have taken, or will take, to mitigate the long-term negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the diversity, equity, and inclusion of undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and faculty in STEM higher education programs and institutions. The goals of this competition are to identify actions that IHEs can take to ensure DEI in STEM despite the long-term challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and to share these strategies broadly.

New and revised NIH funding mechanisms are available for investigators to collaborate with our Clinical and Translational Science Center. The NCATS Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program has also released a notice that emphasizes their desire to fund clinical and translational projects to address health disparities and the significant burden of conditions that disproportionately affect rural, minority, and other underserved populations. The requirements for collaboration are different for each call. Please see each notice for basic requirements and important dates. As a first step, you will need to inform the CTSC PI, Dr. Richard Larson, rlarson@salud.unm.edu of your intent to apply at least 6 weeks prior to submission.

Applications for the 2022 Johnson & Johnson WiSTEM²D Scholars Award opened August 30, 2021, and will close September 27, 2021. The WiSTEM²D Scholars Award Program aims to fuel the development of female STEM2D leaders and feed the STEM2D talent pipeline by awarding and sponsoring women at critical points in their research careers, in each of the STEM2D disciplines: Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Manufacturing, and Design. The awards will fund one woman per discipline who has completed her advanced degree, who is working as an assistant professor, and who is not yet tenured at an accredited university or design institution.
