Biography

Jacob Ormsby, MD, MBA is a practicing radiologist, who specializes in neuroradiology. He is experienced in adult brain imaging, spine imaging, head and neck radiology, and pediatric neuroradiology. Additionally he provides imaged guided procedures of the spine. He has an interest in advanced neuroimaging, brain tumor imaging, quality and safety, along with health policy.

He received his B.S. in Microbiology from New Mexico State University in 2007, followed by his MBA in 2008 at the same institution. He then earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. Dr. Ormsby completed a diagnostic radiology residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, TN. He then did a fellowship in neuroradiology at Northwestern University, Chicago, IL. This was followed by joining the University of New Mexico as Assistant Professor of Radiology. Dr. Ormsby is certified with the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Radiology and Neuroradiology and the American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety. He is a dedicated mentor and advocate for the incoming residents and fellows.

Research

Dr. Ormsby is currently involved with several research projects including looking at radiology education exposure for medical students, neurosurgical outcomes with a dural based sealant, and cerebral cavernous malformations. Additionally he has an interest in quality improvement projects including looking at efficiency and comparative effectiveness.
