Personal Statement
I have been the UNM PI for the FOCUS study working with Dr. Das in Ophthalmology on Semaglutide in patients with diabetic retinopathy. This is a 4-year study, and we have two patients continuing in the study.
I helped support two medical students that will graduate soon who developed a questionnaire looking at both patient and provider sentiments regarding the use of telehealth visits during the pandemic. The students are in the process of writing the results of their study and we hope to have that submitted for publication soon.
I am working with one of my first-year medical students on a study looking at whether GLP-1RA will help improve C-protein levels and decrease the dose of insulin in type 1 diabetes.

I am one of the general internists that has an interest in lipid management. Many GIM and FM clinicians have contacted me to help them with difficult lipid cases.
