Biography
Dr. Babu completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin and earned his MD at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He completed a residency in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology at Cleveland Clinic and a fellowship in Hematopathology at the University of New Mexico. He was a pathologist and medical director in Maryland for several years before returning to UNM. He is currently the director of clinical flow cytometry at TriCore Reference Laboratories. Dr. Babu serves as the hematopathology fellowship program director, residency associate director, and hematopathology rotation director.
Personal Statement
I am board certified in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology and Hematopathology. I enjoy an active role in the in-house and consultation hematopathology and cytogenetics services, as well as in the instruction of fellows, residents, and medical students. One of my particular interests is the advancement of flow cytometry as a diagnostic tool. I am also a member of various pathology organizations including the College of American Pathologists, Society of Hematopathology, and the International Clinical Cytometry Society.
