Biography

As a proud native of New Mexico, I have always cherished the state's rich cultural heritage, stunning skies, and beautiful weather. Since 1997, I have found immense fulfillment in serving our community through healthcare. My journey began at CNM, formerly Albuquerque TVI, where I discovered my passion for labor and delivery nursing after witnessing my first birth in nursing school. I then attended University of Phoenix to attain my BSN, and finally achieved my Masters at UNM.
My career began on the medical-surgical unit at St. Joseph Healthcare, where I worked the night shift under the mentorship of Pat Spillane, a seasoned diploma nurse with over 40 years of experience. Pat's nurturing guidance provided me with a solid foundation in nursing, inspiring me to mentor and support future generations of nurses as new employees and nursing students in any unit I worked.
Over the next seventeen years, I dedicated myself to women's health, working in various roles including mother-baby care, special care nursery, and labor and delivery. My professional journey also led me to serve as a middle school nurse for Rio Rancho Public Schools and gain experience in gynecological oncology and urgent care through two distinct clinics.
In 2023, after earning my MSN in education, I transitioned into a new phase of my career as faculty at UNM College of Nursing. This role allows me to combine my extensive clinical experience with my passion for teaching, shaping the next generation of nurses and continuing my commitment to healthcare excellence.
