Biography

Dr. Annapoorna Bhat is an assistant professor of neurology at the University Of New Mexico School Of Medicine. She received her medical degree from Mysore Medical College and Research Institute, India in 2005. She later completed her masters in medical neuroscience in Berlin, Germany and obtained doctorate in neuroscience from University of Zurich, Switzerland. She completed neurology residency in Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 2015. She later did 2-year epilepsy fellowship in Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia.

Her main clinical interest is medically women with epilepsy pregnancy and epilepsy. She specializes in neuromodulation devices as well. Her main research interests include understanding semiology of epilepsy, quality improvement in epilepsy monitoring units and studying cultural barriers in the treatment of epilepsy. She is also interested in community outreach and epilepsy education.
