Biography

Dr. Blacklock’s primary interest and area of clinical expertise is Nuclear Radiology, which includes both diagnostic imaging and nuclear medicine therapies. She has participated in multiple quality improvement projects in Nuclear Medicine, and previously served as the Director of the Nuclear Medicine Therapy Clinic.

Her involvement in education includes medical student training and radiology residency education, with additional education of learners in other specialties, including cardiology and endocrinology fellows. She is the Director of the Medical Student Radiology Clerkship and the Nuclear Medicine Teaching Block for radiology residents. She also serves as the Medical Director of the Nuclear Medicine Technology and Radiology Sciences Programs.

Achievements & Awards

Provides diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear radiology care for inpatients and outpatients at UNMH, SRMC, and the Albuquerque VAMC.

Completed the two-year Medical Education Scholars (MES) Program in 2018.

Developed and implemented a new medical student radiology clerkship curriculum, to encourage active learning.

Developed and currently directs the two-year nuclear medicine teaching block curriculum for radiology residents

• 4-week block with approximately 12 didactic and interactive conferences covering diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine
• Series of one-hour conferences for radiology residents, nuclear medicine technology students, and rotating medical students
• Coordinated faculty lecturers 2014-present
• Provide 3-5 conferences per year, with rotating content
• Implemented new curriculum design, including introductory and review conferences to reinforce learning

• Generally provide 1-3 case conferences a year for radiology residents
• Interactive review of assorted nuclear medicine cases and principles

2012 - Present Cardiology Fellowship Education
• Provide 1-3 nuclear medicine conferences a year for cardiology fellows
• Provide daily clinical teaching/nuclear cardiology interpretation sessions for cardiology fellows, when scheduled on service at the VAMC.

Research and Scholarship

My primary interest in scholarly activity has been in education, and I participated in the two-year Medical Education Scholars (MES) Program from 2016-2018, using this experience to improve both the nuclear medicine block and the Radiology Medical Student Clerkship.
