Biography

Dr. Bos received her undergraduate degree, a BS in Biology at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, VA. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA. She completed her internship and general psychiatry residency at St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center of New York (New York Medical College) in New York, NY. She completed a two year fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. After completing her training she moved to western Michigan where she practiced child and adolescent psychiatry in a variety of treatment settings including psychiatric inpatient, outpatient, residential treatment and at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. Over time she also treated adults, especially in the areas of substance abuse and developmental disabilities. She was affiliated with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine as an assistant professor. After practicing for 26 years in western Michigan she relocated to New Mexico in 2017 and is currently an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences with the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.

Personal Statement

Dr. Bos has an interest in working with patients of all ages with developmental disabilities. Her interest began during her child and adolescent fellowship where she had the opportunity to be part of an interdisciplinary team performing autism assessments in an autism specialty clinic. Few providers in western Michigan were trained or comfortable doing autism assessments at the time she she started her practice after finishing her training. She continued to assess children and adolescents for autism disorder in a private psychiatric hospital setting and in her private practice. For the last 10 years of her practice in western Michigan she was a consultant for several agencies who delivered services to patients of all ages with developmental disabilities in conjunction with the county's community mental health center. Since moving to New Mexico she has been working to develop services for transitional age youth and young adults with developmental disabilities. She appreciates the importance of working with the patients, families, schools and other agencies involved in this transition of services from child and adolescent to adult services.
