Biography

Dr. Acadia Buro is an Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico College of Population Health. She completed an NCI T32 postdoctoral fellowship in Behavioral Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center; she earned a PhD in Public Health from the University of South Florida, an MS in Human Nutrition from Columbia University, and a BS and BA in Computer Science and Psychology from the American University of Paris. Dr. Buro holds Certified in Public Health (CPH) and Certified Autism Specialist (CAS) certifications. Her research broadly focuses on nutrition equity and health disparities among vulnerable populations. Two of Dr. Buro's ongoing studies involve developing culturally centered, theory-based, behavioral interventions to improve physical and mental health outcomes in adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorder and adolescent and young adult cancer survivors.
