Biography

Jessica Cassyle Carr, MPH, MS, Assoc. AIA, is adjunct faculty at the UNM College of Population Health where she teaches graduate writing and other courses. She began her career in journalism, first as a public radio reporter (KUNM-FM), then as an editor in the alternative press (Weekly Alibi). Today her work is focused on interdisciplinary, intersectoral collaboration and participatory approaches to promote healthy communities. Carr is also a consultant at UNM’s Design and Planning Assistance Center (DPAC), and a contractor at the New Mexico Department of Health. In the latter role—coordinating the New Mexico Academic Health Department—she builds partnerships between governmental public health practitioners and academics, including collaborations with the COPH on research, evaluation, and interventions.
