Personal Statement

After practicing in Rural New Mexico for four and a half years, I decided to join UNM in 2016. My passion to serve our learners and community through clinical services, education and research has grown exponentially. I love educating and mentoring our learners with the goal to see them progress, academically grow and finally graduate to become excellent future providers. I will continue to provide clinical services to our community both at UNMH and Indian Health Services, as well as onsite gynecological consultation for providers in Albuquerque and the surrounding affiliated IHS clinics. I will also focus on research related to educational innovations in collaboration with the School of Medicine. My future plans for research will be centered around exploring the specific needs, progress and growth of our students with the goal to help provide the best learning environment and combat students’ cultural barriers, socioeconomic hurdles, and systemic racism. It is a great honor for me to be part of and serve the people of New Mexico.
