Biography

Dr. Cretara received a B.A. degree in Theatre Arts - Performance (2007) from California State University Long Beach and was a professional actor in the greater Los Angeles area. He then spent a year teaching English in Seoul, South Korea before attending medical school at Boston University School of Medicine. Following his MD degree (2016), he completed a 4-year residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA (2020). He then went on to specialize in GI pathology completing with a GI, pancreas, hepatobiliary fellowship at the University of Utah(2021). Since graduating, he has worked at the University of New Mexico Hospital pathology department.

Personal Statement

my background in the humanities and in teaching speak to my commitment to training the next generation of pathologists and equipping them with the latest and most up to date information and approaches to complex cases. As a practicing pathologist, I strive to provide timely and accurate diagnoses in concise, well written reports.

My subspecialty is GI pathology. My research interests focus on dysplasia arising out of inflammatory bowel disease.
