Biography

Dr. Divani received his bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University in Ohio and his master's and doctorate from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo. He has completed a research fellowship in sleep disorder at the Pulmonary and Critical Care Division of the Department of Medicine, SUNY at Buffalo. He has also completed a stroke research fellowship at the Department of Neurology and Neurosciences, New Jersey Medical School, Rutgers University. Dr. Divani has been a primary or co-investigator on different funded projects by the National Institute of Health, the Department of Defense, the American Heart Association, and private industry. He was the PI of a DOD-funded study looking at the effect of fluid resuscitation for traumatic brain injury with hemorrhagic shock. He was also a Junior PI for an NIH-Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (CoBRE) funded study on the effect of noninvasive vagus nerve stimulation 9nVNS) in treating brain injury. He is also the PI for an NIH-funded study looking at the effect of nVNS on reducing inflammation post-TBI (R21NS130423). He is also engaged in studies examining the neurological manifestations of COVID-19 and Long COVID symptoms.

Dr. Divani is a Fellow of the American Heart Association and was a member of the Research Committee for the Neurocritical Care Society (NCS) from 2014 to 2018. He has contributed to over 100 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has also contributed to over 200 presentations in various national and international meetings and four book chapters. He has mentored over 80 undergraduate and graduate students, medical students, and MDs. Dr. Divani has been an Ad Hoc reviewer and an associate editor for various journals and grant agencies.

Dr. Divani is actively involved in medical education. He collaborates with collaborators in the Americas, Europe, Australia, the Middle East, and India on stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, and traumatic brain injury-related projects such as prevention, risk factors, and current treatment options.
