Biography

Amanda Dunn, DNP, RN, FNP-C, is a clinician educator and Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico College of Nursing and a board-certified family nurse practitioner. Her clinical experience spans pediatric and adult care across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings, with a focus on serving underserved populations in both the Albuquerque metropolitan area and the Four Corners region of the United States. She has provided primary care in Albuquerque and hematology/oncology services in Farmington, New Mexico. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, her nursing career focused on both inpatient and outpatient pediatric populations.

Dr. Dunn currently serves as the Health Sciences Interprofessional Education (IPE) Student Outreach Director and the IPE Coordinator for the College of Nursing. In these roles, she leads initiatives that expand student engagement in interprofessional learning and community-based care. Her work centers on preparing health professions students to address complex health challenges through collaboration, community engagement, and team-based practice, with a focus on advancing planetary health and equipping learners to recognize and respond to the connections between environmental change and human health.

She is the Governance Chair of the Gamma Sigma Chapter and holds memberships in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments, the Nurses Climate Challenge, the Planetary Health Alliance, and New Mexico Professionals for Climate Action.

Dr. Dunn earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Creighton University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of New Mexico. Her doctoral project focused on integrating a clinical decision support tool within the electronic medical record to improve the assessment and treatment of pediatric ADHD in rural communities. Her current scholarly interests include interprofessional education and planetary health.
