Personal Statement

I had an anesthesia practice in Houston, when UNM Dental had contacted me to come see the 1st and only AAAHC accredited dental ambulatory surgical center in New Mexico. Coming from the coast of Texas, touching the Louisiana border, a trek to the southwest was the last place I thought my career would take me. I have been here for 12yrs and couldn't ask for a more beautiful, sunshine-filled, surreal vistas place to call home. When not doing anesthesia for the Department of Dental Medicine I enjoy relaxing in our spacious backyard, BBQ grilling or smoking dinner, while relaxing with my family, or taking a weekend trip to Red River, Durango, or Jemez Springs.
Our ASC is only 1 of a very small number of dental surgery centers nationwide that is associated with a level 1 trauma, teaching hospital and also serves as a main focal point for teaching our Advanced Education in General Dentistry residents. I have been fortunate to have been with the program since the ASC's inception and have been able to serve the populations of New Mexico. I was named the Chairman of the NM Anesthesia Committee in 2016, Division Chief of Dental Medicine in 2018 and promoted to Professor in 2023. My areas of clinic expertise include deep sedation and general anesthesia for dental surgeries.
