Biography

Dr. Fortner received a B.S. degree in Biology (1986) and a M.S. degree in Biology (1991) from the University of New Mexico. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree (1993) from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. Following her MD degree she completed a transitional internship in pediatrics at the University of MIssouri and 3-year anesthesiology residency at the University of Iowa School of Medicine. She subsequently compleated a fellowhsip in adult and pediatric cardiovascular anesthesiology at Vanderbildt University.

Personal Statement

Practicing anesthesiology is a wonderful way to feel like you are making a positive impact on the lives of others. As a nationally recognized expert in the field of healthcare communication and coaching the opportunity to work with the next generation of physicians is a distinct honor. The ability to help them achieve at the highest levels is the highlight of my career.
