Biography

Dr. Foucar received his B.S. in bioengineering at Rice University, graduating summa cum laude, prior to earning his M.D. at Northwestern?s Feinberg School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University and spent one year working as a hospitalist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He then went on to complete his fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Michigan. After working as an assistant professor at the University of Michigan, he decided to move back to his hometown of Albuquerque.

Dr. Foucar has published in journals including the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and has presented his research at national meetings. His research goals include the development of novel treatment strategies and the optimization of existing treatment regimens for leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome through clinical trials and translational research. When he is not in the hospital, he enjoys triathlons, reading, and spending time with his dog Canela.
