Biography
Marisa Francis, DNP, RN, CNE, CLC, has been teaching at The University of New Mexico (UNM) College of Nursing since August 2014. She was promoted to a Principal Lecturer rank in 2022 and teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. Her areas of expertise include breastfeeding, patient education, emergency department nursing, veteran's health, and oncology. She holds certifications in nursing education and chemotherapy/immunotherapy administration. Dr. Francis is also a certified lactation counselor. Additionally, she recently published a study examining the retention rates of nursing interns.
Dr. Francis received her Master of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees from UNM and her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her doctoral project focused on improving infection control compliance among registered nurses.
