Biography
Dr. Gallego received his medical degree from Universidad del Valle, in Cali Colombia (2013). Following his M.D. degree he completed a 4-year residency in Anatomical and Clinical Pathology at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA (2020). He was a Chief Resident in the Department of Laboratory medicine from 2019-2020.
Following this experience, he completed a one-year hematopathology fellowship at University of Washington in Seattle, WA (2021) and a one-year forensic pathology fellowship at University of New Mexico (UNM) in Albuquerque, NM (2022).
Currently, he is a Forensic Pathologist at the Office of the Medical Investigator (OMI) and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at University of New Mexico.
He is also an Assistant Program Director of the Pathology Residency program at UNM and he is a Principal Investigator for the UNM site for a large multi-institutional NIH funded COVID-19 study (NIH RECOVER: A Multi-site Pathology Study of Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 Infection).
He is board certified by the American Board of Pathology (ABPath) in Clinical Pathology, Anatomical Pathology, Hematopathology, and Forensic Pathology.
