Biography
Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Goldstein earned a double bachelor degree in molecular biology & biochemistry and mathematics in 1997. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2001 from UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (now of Rutgers University). As an awardee in the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program, he entered active military service in the United States Navy. He completed a transitional internship at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia in 2002 and subsequently trained to become a Naval Flight Surgeon. He was immediately deployed aboard the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Nimitz, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Following release from active duty, he completed family medicine residency at Columbia-St. Mary's in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He spent two years as a community hospitalist in Albuquerque, New Mexico before transitioning to a career in academic hospital medicine. Dr. Goldstein has served in multiple leadership roles at the national level with the Society of Hospital Medicine.
