Biography
Geraldine Guerra-Sandoval, MSN, RN, CMSRN, is a lecturer I at The University of New Mexico (UNM) College of Nursing. Her nursing career began at UNM Hospital. After completing a nurse residency at the Hospital, she became a staff nurse and then a Unit-Based Educator. Guerra-Sandoval teaches Level 1 nursing students at the College. She has received several honors, including the Distinguished Nurse and Daisy Team Awards.
Guerra-Sandoval conducted a study in a medical-surgical unit to address language barriers of limited English proficient (LEP) patients. The study significantly improved the communication needs of the LEP patients and the findings have been shared at several nursing conferences. Guerra-Sandoval has worked on several projects to promote safety and quality at UNM Hospital.
Guerra-Sandoval received her Master of Science in Nursing degree, with a concentration in Education, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UNM and was certified in the medical-surgical nursing specialty.
