Biography

Dr. Haghani Tehrani, received her Doctor of Medicine (General Practitioner) degree in 2007 from Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Iran. Following her MD degree, she completed a 4-year residency in Psychiatry at the University of New Mexico.

Personal Statement

I have a life-long passion for public service, teaching, and communication skills. This has shaped my career vision of promoting Communication and Integration through rural clinical service development, education, and scholarly activities (quality improvement and research projects). I have formal training in medical education including curriculum development and leadership in education as well as in quantitative and qualitative research methodology.

As a faculty member at UNM school of medicine, I have played a key role in developing clinical services, including Integrated Psychiatry at UNM SRMC. Additionally, I have created, revised, and taught several curricula and workshops at UNM SOM and Department of Psychiatry. These efforts include medical student education on communication in healthcare, workshops on effective feedback, and a curriculum on Integrated Psychiatry.
