Biography

Dr. Helmrich obtained her undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of South Florida, the areas of anthropology, biomedical sciences, and aging and neuroscience. She then completed medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed her pathology residency training, as well as her forensic pathology fellowship, at the University of New Mexico.

Dr. Helmrich is board certified in Anatomic and Forensic Pathology by the American Board of Pathology. She is a member of multiple professional organizations, including NAME (National Associated of Medical Examiners) and the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS). Her research interests have included the utility of CT (Computed Tomography) scans in the postmortem setting. Other professional interests include drowning-related deaths, and postmortem artifacts.
