Biography

Dr. Hensley received a B.A. degree in Psychology (1988) from Northwestern University. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree (M.D.) in 1992 from Northwestern University Medical School. She completed her psychiatry residency at the University of New Mexico in 1996 and is Board Certified in general psychiatry. She returned to training as a Geriatric Psychiatry fellow in 2024 and completed the fellowship in 2025.

Personal Statement

Dr. Hensley has worked at UNM in a variety of clinical roles including inpatient psychiatric units, outpatient psychiatric clinics, psychiatric emergency services, clinical research, and as an electroconvulsive therapy provider. She has been a member of the Human Research Review Committee (UNM Health Sciences Center’s Institutional Review Board) for many years and is a Committee Chair. In addition, she has worked with learners of different backgrounds and stages of training including medical students, psychiatry residents, nursing students, and students in mid-level provider programs. Her clinical interests focus on treatment of psychiatric illness in older adults.
