Biography

Hill received a BA degree in Psychology (1987) from Bates College. She earned her MS degree with an emphasis in Clinical Psychology (1994) from the University of New Mexico and her PhD with an emphasis in Clinical Psychology (1999) from the University of New Mexico. Following her PhD, she completed two years of post-doctoral fellowship at the University of UT (1999 - 2000) and the University of NM (2000 - 2001).

Personal Statement

As a clinical psychologist and pediatric neuropsychologist, my areas of specialization are the diagnostic and neuropsychological assessment of children with neurodevelopmental disorders. I have focused my clinical work, teaching, supervision/training, and research on children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Specific Learning Disorders, and, most recently, children with prenatal exposures to alcohol and drugs of abuse.

Courses Taught

Co-Presenter of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) training. Presented to Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) occupational and physical therapists (80 participants) on the diagnosis of and intervention for FASD.

Co-Presenter of FASD training. Presented to early intervention providers in northern NM (20 participants) on FASD diagnosis and intervention for children ages birth to three years.

Co-Presenter/Facilitator LEND Problem-Based Learning (PBL) FASD. Presented the CDD Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) trainees on FASD. Included presentation and facilitation of group research and presentation on PBL question.

Co-Presenter Autism Spectrum Disorder Training. Presented to staff of the Native American Community Academy (NACA) on the diagnosis and treatment of children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Co-Presenter FASD training. Presented to the staff at the Acoma-Canoncito-Laguna Hospital on the diagnostic presentation and treatment of children with a FASD.

Co-Presenter LEND clinic on FASD. Presented to LEND trainees on the diagnosis and treatment of children with a FASD. Presentation included live clinic and facilitation of discussion with parent of a child with a FASD.

Co-Presenter Neurodevelopmental Disorders for Indian Health Services (IHS). Developed a 6-session, one-hour webinar series on neurodevelopmental disorders for IHS providers.

3. Dyslexia: My recent publications are from a multi-site grant to study the genetic and neuropsychological correlates of dyslexia in minority children with the goal of developing methods for the early identification of dyslexia. I was the PI for the University of New Mexico site.
