Biography
Dr. Kraai received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara and then completed her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in 2003. She received scholarships to pursue research during a 5th year of medical school. Following her medical doctorate, she completed residency in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. She joined the faculty at the University of New Mexico in 2010 after completing a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology from Starship Children's Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand.
Personal Statement
Dr. Kraai has a broad pediatric otolaryngology practice with a special focus on the care of pediatric patients with cleft lip and palate and microtia. She has published on these topics and also completed a sabbatical to Tokyo, Melbourne, Seattle and Toronto where she gained further experience from experts in the field. She is an advocate for team care in otolaryngology and is a member of interdisciplinary teams including the Cleft Team Clinic, Endocrine Tumor Board, Vascular Anomalies Clinic, and Aerodigestive Clinic.

Dr. Kraai has provided numerous lectures for the pediatric otolaryngology section of the Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery Resident Curriculum since 2010.
Research and Scholarship
After completing a sabbatical focused on auricular reconstruction for microtia, Dr. Kraai wrote a chapter on the topic published in a book on craniofacial microsomia and Treacher Collins syndrome. She has also published research focused on hearing restoration options for patients with aural atresia. Her other research interests have focused on cleft repair and pediatric airway.
