Biography
Aaron Lesser, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, DiMM is a Nurse Practitioner specializing in primary care and wilderness medicine, and a clinical educator and assistant professor at the University of New Mexico College of Nursing. He blends clinical expertise with a passion for teaching and mentoring, guiding students and colleagues in both conventional and austere environments.
Aarons path into healthcare began with an unconventional foundation in aviation maintenance, where he trained as a certified Airframe and Powerplant mechanic and developed a systems-based, detail-oriented approach to troubleshooting and diagnostics. While working in aviation, he earned his EMT-B certification, which sparked a deeper interest in medicine and ultimately led him to transition into nursing. His nursing career has spanned behavioral health and critical care, allowing him to develop a nuanced understanding of complex physical and mental health needs.
As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Aaron brings this analytic, problem-solving mindset into primary care, integrating it with a holistic, evidence-based approach to health. He prioritizes patient education, collaborative decision-making, and lifestyle-based interventions to optimize wellness and outcomes. Across clinical, academic, and wilderness settings, Aaron is committed to interdisciplinary teamwork and to advancing patient-centered, comprehensive care.
