Biography

Lopez received a B.S. degree in Biology (2000). She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree (2006) from University of New Mexico School of Medicine. Following her MD degree she completed a 3-year Pediatric Residency at Johns Hopkins Children's Hospital (2009).

Personal Statement

Lopez is on the Clinical Educator Track. She has been engaged in a variety of medical student and resident education activities. Her focus in recent years has been on graduate medical education while also mentoring medical students in their pursuit of a career in Pediatrics. Lopez is passionate about medical education because it contributes to the development of future generations of physicians and it is an opportunity to continue improving the training experience.

Research

Lopez has contributed to the development of a Resident Remediation Curriculum for Pediatric Residents. This Curriculum has been presented in a workshop format at the Western Region of Association of Pediatric Program Directors and accepted for presentation at Pediatric Academic Societies. The curriculum has recently been submitted to MedEd Portal to better aid other programs with a developing a standard and supportive approach towards remediation. Lopez has also contributed as a site director for APPD National Projects: Pediatric Resident Nighttime Curriculum, Burnout and Resilience and Parenthood Studies.
