Biography

Gamaliel Lorenzo, MD, is a practicing Neuroradiologist who specializes in Head and Neck imaging. Dr. Lorenzo earned his B.S. in Physiology and Neuroscience in 2001, at the University of California, Los Angeles. He graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine in 2005. He then attended a one-year transitional internship at Alameda County Medical Center in Oakland, CA and completed his residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA in 2010. Dr. Lorenzo completed his Neuroradiology and Head and Neck fellowships at Emory University Hospital in 2012. Dr. Lorenzo began his career at the University at of New Mexico in 2012 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2018. He served as the Neuroradiology Section Chief and Neuroradiology Program Director from 2015-2018. He has served as the Program Director for the Diagnostic Radiology Residency since 2018.

Dr. Lorenzo is passionate about servant leadership and teaching through deliberate practice. Dr. Lorenzo completed UNM?s Medical Education Scholars Program in 2016, UNM?s Medical Leadership Academy in 2018, Society of Chairs of Academic Radiology Departments? Leadership, and Management in Radiology Program in 2019 and is currently enrolled at UNM?s School of Public Administration to earn his Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree. Dr. Lorenzo was recognized as the Teacher of the Year in 2013, MVP of the Year in 2015, and received the Scholarship in Education Allocation Committee (SEAC) award in 2018.
