Biography

Dr. Lovato received her B.S. degree in Biology from the University of New Mexico and graduated summa cum laude. She completed her medical school, residency, and fellowship training through the UNM SOM and Health Sciences Center. She was primary care chief resident at the NM VA Medical Center prior to starting fellowship.

Personal Statement

My research, teaching, and service interests include several areas of Endocrinology but principally have been in the area of thyroid disease, particularly thyroid nodules and cancer, metabolic bone disease, and the role of cortisol in pituitary, adrenal, and liver disease. My aim has been to provide the latest and most optimal care to patients and excellence in education. I have achieved this by publishing several abstracts and articles through the years as well as educating medical professionals in practice and learners at various levels of education regarding the latest research and guidelines for the most optimal management of patients.

I have also implemented improvements in clinical practice for thyroid nodules and cancer as well as osteoporosis, particularly in Thyroid Biopsy clinic, Metabolic Bone clinic, and Sandoval Regional Medical Center General Endocrinology clinic. I am also committed to improving clinic flow as well as patient, staff, and provider satisfaction in the Internal Medicine Medical Specialties clinics.
