Biography
Dr. Lucero was born and raised in Las Vegas, New Mexico. She received B.A. degrees in Chemistry and Spanish from the University of New Mexico. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of New Mexico. Following her MD degree she completed a residency in general surgery in Fresno, California at the UCSF-Fresno program. Following residency she returned to New Mexico to complete a 2-year fellowship in Trauma/Acute Care Surgery. She stayed at UNM as faculty upon completion of her fellowship.
Personal Statement
From an early age I have been passionate about serving New Mexico as a physician. My faculty position at UNM has allowed me to combine by love for service and trauma surgery/surgical critical care. I am additionally incredibly grateful to work as an educator for the next generation of New Mexican physicians through my assistant professor role.
