Marinaro earned his MD in 2000 from University of Colorado School of Medicine
Marinro completed a 3 year residency in EM at UNM
Marinaro completed a 1 year fellowship in Trauma Critical Care at Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore Maryland
Personal Statement
Jonathan Marinaro, MD FCCM is a Professor and the Chief of the UNM Center for Adult Critical Care. Dr. Marinaro is Director of the UNM ECMO Program and Medical Director of the Cardiothoracic Vascular ECMO ICU and Co-director of Sandoval Regional ICU. He is a founding director and past president of the Society of Critical Care Medicine- New Mexico Chapter. Dr. Marinaro is active clinically and practices in all the Surgical ICU?s at UNM and the SRMC ICU.
He has published numerous articles and book chapters. He speaks regionally, nationally, and internationally on numerous critical care topics including resuscitation, de-resuscitation, ECMO and advanced ventilator modes such as Airway Pressure Release Ventilation (APRV or TCAV).
Dr. Marinaro trained at the University of New Mexico in Emergency Medicine for his primary specialty and then went on to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland for his surgical critical care fellowship. During fellowship he won the Aurelio Rodriguez Fellow of the Year award, the first to be given to a non- surgeon in the history of the award. He is boarded in Surgical Critical Care, Neurologic Critical Care, Advanced Perioperative Echocardiography and Emergency Medicine.
