Personal Statement

I have a longstanding interest in working with justice-involved youth, understanding youth developmental psychopathology, and accurate assessment of trauma and neurodevelopmental symptoms in justice involved individuals. I am devoted to educating and collaborating with others to improve the quality and efficiency of juvenile forensic evaluations being conducted broadly, but particularly in New Mexico. A core motivation in professional work is addressing the lack of available resources for justice-involved individuals in New Mexico and bolstering infrastructure for clinical and forensic services through policy, education, and scholarship. In this pursuit, I have become involved with various community partners, agencies, and organizations with consistent aims and efforts. Those roles include, but are not limited to: the New Mexico Psychological Association (President), NM Supreme Court Commission on Mental Health and Competency (Co-lead of the Juvenile Team), Children's Court Improvement Commission (Voting Member).
