Biography

Dr. Mathew received a BA degree in Economics (2002) from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master's in Library Science degree (2009) from Queens College, City University of New York. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree (2016) from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Following his MD degree, he completed a three-year residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of New Mexico, subsequently working as an attending Emergency Medicine physician in New Mexico from 2019 to 2023. In the aftermath of his time working on the frontlines throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, Dr. Mathew re-evaluated his purpose in his work as a physician, subsequently stepping away from medicine for over a year. He then completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine (2025) at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, and additionally a fellowship in Hospice & Palliative Medicine (2025) at the University of New Mexico. He currently practices Integrative Palliative Care in his role as Assistant Professor in the Division of Palliative Medicine at the University of New Mexico, with an intention to bring integrative approaches to healing for those suffering from serious illness.
