Personal Statement

My research examines the drivers, consequences, and contexts of the adoption of new information technologies and practices, particularly in research-focused communities. I explore the role that factors including scientific values, disciplinary norms, and information policies play in shaping these decisions and how such decisions in turn shape scholarly and professional communications and social environments. My research interests stem from my background as a librarian developing and providing information services for organizations specializing in science, technology, and medicine. My dissertation work examined innovation adoption in the context of an academic medical center, resulting in the development of a new model of factors that impact innovation decisions. Many of my prior research products have been published under the name Danielle Pollock.
