Biography
Dr. McClain is a Minimally Invasive Surgeon focusing on complex hernia, general, foregut, and bariatric surgery. She is also board certified in Obesity Medicine and practices preoperative weight loss management. She earned a BS in Biology from Mississippi College in 2006 and her doctorate in Medicine (MD) from the University of Mississippi in 2011. Shen then went on to complete residency in General Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina which she completed in 2018. During that time she did a research fellowship at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia from 2014-2016. After residency she further completed two fellowships. The first from the University of Texas Southwestern in Pediatric Trauma Surgery and the second from the University of California San Diego in 2020 in Minimally Invasive Surgery. She holds additional accreditation from SAGES in Advanced GI and Minimally Invasive Surgery as well as the Fellowship Council.
